The Happy Place

12 Feb

She took me to her happy place

Where the creek does flow,

And told me of her childhood

As if it were yesterday,

Though it was long ago.

The air was chilled, a stillness hung

Over us as we stood hand in hand.

Peacefulness and restlessness

Raged within me as the connection

We had I tried to understand.

Over the bridge she led

Me to a walking trail.

Through prairie meadow

And trees we walked in step

As she continued to tell her tale.

And as we were walking back, mundane

Life interrupted us, stole her happiness away.

I stroked her face and wiped away her tears,

Looked into her eyes, and promised

To make it a happy place again someday.

Dear Mom

4 May

Dear Mom,
I’ve missed you
Since you’ve been gone.

You gave birth to me
And my two brothers,
Urged us to be free.

You taught us manners,
And to be open minded,
Tried to make us planners.

Through good times and bad,
You were there for us,
When we were happy or sad.

Of good memories I’ll hold, if I may,
And wish you in your Heaven
A very happy birthday.

In The Grove

14 Mar

In the Grove
of ancient Oak,
there is a clearing
where the goddess, to me, spoke.

Where the tall emerald grasses sway,
as the winds whistle and play.
The wide shallow brook babbles,
as over precious stones it travels.

Rusalki with wet green hair,
In a circle dance.
I do stare
as in a trance.

Sitting on my chair of stone,
I know in my heart I am not alone.
On a stone chair across the table from me,
She calls my name and ask what I see.

Goddess, Mother,
I say to her.
This grove of oaks is within me,
My personal sanctuary.

She smiles and moves a chess piece,
My turn now, and move I must.
For in here I am at perfect peace,
And give to her,
perfect love, and perfect trust.

In That Sweet Day

5 Feb
In that sweet day,
When the wind blew
Through the willows
And the birds did sing,
Forever does the memory stay
Of that unfortunate sting.

Mine love was a child,
And so was I,
Laughing and running
through the field
of flowers we smiled
at the wonderous scents they did yield.

Cruel fate did step between us
in the form of a bee.
My love was stung,
And a tear came to her eye.
Without breath to fuss,
Slowly she did die.

In that sweet day,
My first love
Was lost to me
Under bright sunshine.
Yet her spirit with me does stay,
Forever in love, I am hers and she is mine.
