Ah yes! Finally it’s. Friday!

Ah yes! Finally it's. Friday!
Keep them in your heart - Peace, Faith, Love, and Hope.
Crap, I had my whole day planned out, then I read the label.
Delving into the Delphic Maxims.

Thank God and Goddess it's Friday.
Delving into the Delphic Maxims.
Weaving spiritual practice into daily life.

Almost the weekend, writing a Friday Pantoum.

A Magnificent Gift

4 Dec

What a magnificent gift

Is the ability to write.

To share with others

Our wit, knowledge, and insight.

Inspiration flowing

Onto the page,

From the mind and heart,

Its impact we cannot gauge.

Some will be positive, and

Some will disagree.

Though the negatives be discouraging,

From your art do not flee.

Of poets, novelists,

And bloggers,I know,

Critics quick to cut us down,

But go on, we must, with the show.

A magnificent gift

Bestowed by the Divine,

We share with the world

On pages and online.

Posting New Poems

3 Jun

I want to thank everyone for the positive comments and encouragement to keep going. Trying to write and post a new poem everyday is difficult because I don’t always feel inspired to write something. My Poetry Muse Chloe does deserve a break every now and then—time to relax and get a banana-strawberry smoothie (her favorite) while getting a pedicure at the 9 Muses Spa.

So I am planning on trying to post a new poem every three days. That gives me time to get inspired, write something, edit it and post it. It also gives me time to start planning with my Noveling Muse (whom is glaring at me as she files her fingernails because I forgot her name) what I will be writing for the next National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November 2011.

And if you could take the time to rate my poems so I can see how well I’ve done writing them, I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you,

The Renegade Poet

Nevermore

7 May
Nevermore, he quoted me as saying.
Nevermore, was I, the Raven, quoted.
Nevermore, indeed, Mr. Poe.
Nevermore, for Mr. Edgar Allan Poe.

Nevermore, is a long time, an eternity.
Nevermore, of course, what else should I say?
Nevermore, shall Mr. Poe read his poetry.
Nevermore, shall he defame and call me craven.

Nevermore shall he drink, his thirst alcohol drowned.
Nevermore shall he eat, illness took his life.
Nevermore shall he write, his bones turned to dust.
Nevermore shall he be ignored, posthumous fame he earned.

Nevermore, shall he know the sadness I still feel.
Nevermore, his spirit burdened by body, lifted in wingless flight.
Nevermore, shall he look upon me for inspiration.
Nevermore, shall I witness his mad genious.

Nevermore, my friend, shall we converse about poetry.
Nevermore...

Do Not Mock Lightly Sir Dylan Thomas

23 Mar

Do not mock lightly Sir Dylan Thomas,
Though you may think he may not hurt a fly,
To no good end, will it come, I promise.

Gentle sir, let not your comments be crass,
Though of true belief on the by and by,
Do not mock lightly Sir Dylan Thomas.

If satirical thought you make alas,
My head I will hang low as I do sigh,
To no good end, will it come, I promise.

Of his brilliance you continue to razz,
Show no surprise when he gives his reply,
Do not mock lightly Sir Dylan Thomas.

I implore you, my friend, to show some class,
Should his left and right raise from you a cry,
To no good end, will it come, I promise.

On the day I attend your Hallowmas,
From wounds delivered by Him, you did die,
Do not mock lightly Sir Dylan Thomas,
To no good end, will it come, I promise.

Trying Out Poetry Forms

23 Mar

I have decided to try out some poetry forms. Though I am a renegade poetry writer, I believe only good can come from having fun with these standards of the poetry craft. I hope you will enjoy my attempts, I know I will.

I May Never Know

18 Mar

I may never know
how many people
I touch with my words

Whether my words cause
them to laugh or cry
Or make them think, wonder

If my words inspire
Others to aspire
to their very best

Or opens minds to
new possibilities
I may never know

But by my writing
I know I have done
My Divine purpose
