The Longest Night

22 Dec
The longest night
Of the year,
To the ancient pagans
It was something to fear.

But at last
There came the morn,
And they rejoiced
That the sun was reborn.

Over time they
Created many different rites,
To push back the darkness
And welcome back the light.

Stories were created
And songs they did sing,
Of Bialobog and Czarnabog,
The Oak King and The Holly King.

Baking treats and
A candle I do light,
To celebrate Winter Solstice
And Yule's longest night.

A Great Miracle Happened There

20 Dec

Your religious practices

Hellenistic Ruler Antiochus forbade,

The Maccabees rebelled

And from the Greeks a price was paid.

Rededication of the Jewish temple

Was their right,

But found they only enough oil to last one night.

A great miracle happened there

Celebrated to this day.

The oil lasted eight nights,

And a new shipment arrived from far away.

So make your latkes and sufganiyot, play with

Dreidels and light the menorah with the Shimash.

It is time to celebrate Hannukah,

The eight night Jewish festival of light bash.

A Magnificent Gift

4 Dec

What a magnificent gift

Is the ability to write.

To share with others

Our wit, knowledge, and insight.

Inspiration flowing

Onto the page,

From the mind and heart,

Its impact we cannot gauge.

Some will be positive, and

Some will disagree.

Though the negatives be discouraging,

From your art do not flee.

Of poets, novelists,

And bloggers,I know,

Critics quick to cut us down,

But go on, we must, with the show.

A magnificent gift

Bestowed by the Divine,

We share with the world

On pages and online.

Walking With The Goddess

19 Aug

She smiled at me, asked me
How I was doing as we walked
Amongst the trees along the
Forest path.

I took a deep breath, told her
I had my up and down days,
Doubtful times when I pray to
Her and her Consort.

She hugs me, we continue
To walk and leave the woods
Behind, through fields of flowers
And I continue to talk.

I’m finding new friends, some
From my past and some new,
And they are accepting me as
Me, who knew.

She laughs gently under the
Starry sky, says to me, “I knew.”
Your path is long, and stumble you
Will, but I am here for you.

My heart filled with joy,
As we said our farewells in
The Summerlands where I
Walk with the Goddess.

The Sentinel Stands

7 Jun

The sentinel stands
With fiery sword
In hand, guarding
The entrance to a
Garden from which we
Are banned, a racial
Memory become an oral
Tradition, then written
As a story in the
Holy books of
Monotheistic religions.

The sentinel stands
With lantern in hand,
A guiding light back
To our eternal home,
A home we left by
Choice, that we might
Learn, with aid of loving
Guides, and love of our
Divine Mother and Father,
Lessons we can only experience
In a harsh land of living and dying.

The Temples

30 May

Golden candles burn brightly in the Sun temple,
Silver candles glow in the Moon temple,
Incense smoke scents the Air temple,
A stream flows into a pool in the Water temple,
Trees and bushes grow as the Earth temple,
The eternal flame burns in the Fire temple,
And I carry within me the Spirit temple.

I light a golden candle in the Sun temple,
I light a silver candle in the Moon temple,
Incense I inhale in the Air temple,
I cleanse myself in the pool of the Water temple,
I touch, hug and thank the trees and bushes of the Earth temple,
I stare into the eternal flame of the Fire temple,
And meditating I go within myself to the Spirit temple.

22 May

They said it was coming,
They said they knew when,
They advertised it on billboards,
But cancelled it in the end.

So we are Raptureless,
The Christians are still here,
The date passed us by,
But the reasons are very clear.

They still have lessons to learn,
From that holy book of theirs,
Spend more time fixing themselves,
And stop with the tribulation scares.

Treating others as they wish
To be treated would be nice,
Tolerance, acceptance,
And respect would be good advice.

And if the Rapture eventually
Happens, save the date,
As the day the Divine took those
Of all religions whom did not hate.
