Just Wait

30 Jan
Temperature bouncing
Up and down,
Makes me want
To sigh and frown.

Sunny then cloudy,
Snow then rain.
Just wait, in Indiana,
And it will change again.

Warm and calm, thinking
It will last leaves you chagrined.
Because soon it turns cold
With a blustery wind.

Oh Mother Nature,
The games you play on our state.
For whether we like the weather
Or not, You'll change it, if we just wait.

Santa Will Be Grinnin’

23 Dec
You've been extremely bad we hear,
Displaying a lack of Christmas cheer.
But Santa will be grinnin' from ear to ear,
While he's shittin' down your chimney this year.

Well you kicked the dog,
And told your wife she's fat.
To make matters worse
Over a fence you tossed the cat,
Hey man, what's up with that?

Shamefully you drank all your neighbor's beer,
Displaying a lack of Christmas cheer.
But Santa will be grinnin' from ear to ear,
While he's shittin' down your chimney this year.

Well you've made yourself quite an ass,
At your wife's best friend you made a pass.
To make matters worse
Female coworkers you did sexually harass,
Hey man, show a little class!

At the Salvation Army you did sneer,
Displaying a lack of Christmas cheer.
But Santa will be grinnin' from ear to ear,
While he's shittin' down your chimney this year.

Well being around you is no honeymoon,
Your chew ends up everywhere but the spittoon.
To make matters worse
You were born within your mouth a silver spoon,
Hey man, how did you become such a goon?

At the mall Santa you showed your rear,
Displaying a lack of Christmas cheer.
But Santa will be grinnin' from ear to ear,
While he's shittin' down your chimney this year.

Oh yes, Santa will be grinnin' from ear to ear,
While he's shittin' down your chimney this year.

Chaotic Looking For Focus

13 Nov

Thoughts and images
Streaming through my
Mind, Going from
Tangent to tangent,
Blind leading the blind,
No one can help me
To navigate this morass,
I’m a renegade poet
And you can kiss my ass.
Spiritual,sexual, politically
Incorrect, looking at
My life in disconnect,
Caffeinated and primed,
Beyond normal hocus pocus,
I am what I am,
Chaotic looking for focus.

A Beautiful Woman

1 Aug

I saw today
A beautiful woman.
Her long brown hair
Framed her face perfectly,
Her make up was done up right,
And when she talked,
She gestured with a confidence
Of someone comfortable with life
And the world.

We went outside and began
To talk of days gone by.
As we talked, she pulled
Out a cigarette to smoke;
A deep sadness filled me,
And about the cigarette
I asked her why. It relieves
The stress of my my hectic
life, helps me forget the strife.

I saw today
A beautiful woman.
Her long brown hair brushed
To frame her face perfectly,
The funeral director had done
Her make up just right,
The cancer took her from us,
And tears rolled from my eyes,
As I said to her my last goodbyes.

What’s The Rush

14 Jun

Day blurs into night,
Work into sleep,
Monday becomes Friday,
January flies to December,
All the while we are
Running children,
Or ourselves,
From place to place,
A seemingly unending
Routine without a
Moment to stop and
Think, witness the
Beauty of nature,
Relax and find
That inner peace,
And answer the
Question we are all
Thinking about,
What’s the rush?

The Sentinel Stands

7 Jun

The sentinel stands
With fiery sword
In hand, guarding
The entrance to a
Garden from which we
Are banned, a racial
Memory become an oral
Tradition, then written
As a story in the
Holy books of
Monotheistic religions.

The sentinel stands
With lantern in hand,
A guiding light back
To our eternal home,
A home we left by
Choice, that we might
Learn, with aid of loving
Guides, and love of our
Divine Mother and Father,
Lessons we can only experience
In a harsh land of living and dying.

In Arlington

27 May

In Arlington
They stand,
Row upon row
Of stone soldiers,
Miniature American
Flags by their sides,
Grave markers of
Our nation’s sons,
And now, perhaps,
Some daughters,
Revolutionaries,
Patriots and Rebels,
Whom bore muskets to
Rifles in the cause
Of freedom, giving
Their lives for
Others, that they
May live free.
